Why Would God Want to Grow a Business?

TAKING INVENTORY

Most C12 members have experienced sustained growth. If we look at the last five

years most of us are now larger businesses, even in real (i.e., inflation-adjusted)

terms, than we were before. If you are not a C12 member, has your business experienced dramatic growth? Some may be wondering if the growth we have had is from God. If so, we might ask the following questions in evaluating our current practice compared to five years ago:

Yes___ No___ 1. Are we spending as much or more time developing our personal

relationship with God? Is our relationship with Him at least as vital?

Yes___ No___ 2. Are we intentional in spending more time developing our marriage

relationship? Is our time more available to our spouse because of how

we've handled the growth?

Yes___ No___ 3. Are we spending more time with our children?

Yes___ No___ 4. Is the ministry in and through the business greater because of the growth?

Yes___ No___ 5. Do we depend on and trust God more?

Yes___ No___ 6. Is our physical condition better than it was because the growth we have

experienced has made more time/resources available for us to exercise

and take care of our bodies?

Yes___ No___ 7. Are we more humble and aware that it has all happened through God's

enabling and do we give Him more glory for our business?

Yes___ No___ 8. Has business growth resulted in simplifying our lives?

Yes___ No___ 9. Do we primarily see business growth (past and future) as a path to

increased personal luxury and comfort?

Yes___ No___ 10. Would our spouses, children, and closest associates give the same answers

we have just given?

There is no simple or perfect way to score this test. The final score is between each

of us and the true Owner of the business. If we are truly operating it for Him, His

values and purposes will be gradually coming to the fore. As this happens, His

ultimate purpose for entrusting the business into our care will become progressively

manifest and clear to many. This is among our strongest outward testimonies as

Christian leaders.
